How The Color Run 5K Is Different Than Other Races

By Kellie S. Harley

The Color Run 5K occurs in more than 25 cities across the US each year. This race is not like any other 5K you have ever taken part in, and at the end of the race you will be a lot more colorful than when you started. Even those who come in last are sure to end the race with smiles on their faces. Colors are definitely free, and participants in the race will also receive a free t-shirt when they sign up. A part of the proceeds collected from the race will be contributed to a local charity.

The suggested clothing for runners at the start of the race is a white t-shirt. Once the race starts, runners will be attacked with colors every five minutes by volunteers on the Color Bomb Squad. It won't be long before those boring white t-shirts are multicolored much like a rainbow. The colors that are usually tossed are purple, pink, blue, yellow, and green, and each leg of the race has its own color. No toxic chemicals or paints are getting thrown at the runners, and it is just colored corn starch.

Anyone who participates in the race will receive a t-shirt for the event, whether they are racers or volunteers. There will be food, drinks, and music after the race in a celebration thrown by the sponsors. All of this follows the greatest color celebration of the day where everyone will throw handfuls of color at each other.

People of the community benefit from the Color Run 5K because a portion of the money is donated to a charity found in the area. More than 25 charities in the US are being supported because the Color Run 5K takes place in 25 different cities. Deaf Community Services of San Diego is the title of the charitable organization that the Color Run San Diego donates its proceeds to. This charity aims to enrich the lives of the deaf community in the area by defeating obstacles to services, education, and advocacy for members of the community.

People will get exercise, have fun, and have an overall great day if they take part in the Color Run 5K. Individuals will feel better for participating, and they will also be able to say that they helped give something back to the people in their community. You are certain to have a great time and meet fascinating people whether you are racing in San Diego or another of the 25 cities.
