Basic Gator Hunting Tips For Newbies

When hunting animals with huge mouths complete with a set of serrated teeth it is necessary to bring the right equipment. Knowing the basic equipment lowers the risk of getting maimed underwater. One important equipment to have is a harpoon pole.

There are at least six equipments to have ready before hitting the bayou. At the top in the list is the harpoon pole which is used to locate and attach a restrain line, and considered mandatory especially for gators over seven inches, but unless it is six inch below a bow line works very well. Obviously, a lighting equipment that is not an obstruction during hunting, and most prefer a hands free headlight usually worn around the head.

A good lighting equipment that allows you to use both your hands. A head light is necessary, it is simply strapped around the forehead. This do not hinder the hunt especially when a gator is captured and struggling for its life.

The action comes when the beast has been harpooned and restrained in one area. The party must be able to kill the beast in a humane way. A bang stick offers a quick end to its life by aiming it behind the crown, and never on top of it because it causes lead and bone blowing in the face. However there are instances when the animal still struggles to live, avoid putting the gaff yet, Then kill it again until it stop struggling.
