Poker Blackjack Needs Strategic Moves

By Joe Manonn

A good poker blackjack player will do all they can to educate themselves about the game. The more approaches you use while playing will put the odds of winning more in your favor. The one factor that no one has control over is luck. If luck is not with you, all the skill you have will get you nowhere.

Whether you play blackjack at your local casino or online, the same angles are used and applied. One deals with the amount of money you bet before the cards are even dealt. Most often this bet is based on hands that have been won or lost previously. A player may then go on and bet even more with the cards still in play depending on certain circumstances.

Another approach that is tried is to bet heavily after a losing hand. This is based on the idea that a losing streak cannot last forever. When you do get the winning hand, the pot will be full enough to recoup your previous losses and maybe give you bit extra. This is known as negative progression.

If a person seems to be in a winning position they will often try a reverse strategy called positive progression. This is when a player chooses to double their bet after every hand that they win. The idea is to stockpile winnings as long as you can as a protection against future losses.

Some schemes are used after the cards are dealt to the players. One may choose to double down. It can be done with any hand and as the name implies the bet is doubled. The player then receives only one more card for that hand. You can also split pairs. If a player is dealt a pair of cards, they are allowed to split them into two hands, but they must also match the bets on both hands. Both strategies increase the chance of winning more money with each hand.

The aim of the player is to gain an advantage over the dealer and come out ahead in the game. Strategies are complex and knowledge and discipline is an important part of the game. With luck playing part of the role in each hand, the best strategy a blackjack player can have is to not play if he cannot afford to lose.
