A Look At The TaylorMade R11 Irons

By Jamie Faidley

Introduction

Like the Burner 2.0 irons, but the TaylorMade R11 irons however have additional technology built into them that the Burner irons do not. Its ultra thin face makes the club feel lighter than the other irons TaylorMade makes, and its weight distribution is different. TaylorMade says that they also built in some technology the driver has, which will permit the club to be tuned to your swing. Its reversed cone expands the center spot, which helps beginners and average players with their swing. Read our TaylorMade R11 irons review to get some more information on the irons.

Overview

If you can afford it then this iron is the one for you. It is exceedingly easy to hit, and the feel and impact is much better. The expanded sweet spot allows off-center hits to go straight and long. An experienced golfer may deem its feasibility a little less than what he would want. But however this iron is a great addition to your club set. Its lighter feel will enable you to swing easier, without affecting the distance that you may have been employed to. If you are looking to boost your game and take it to the next level, then these clubs will help.

The Good

Beginning players or players who seek to head off to a higher level will really benefit from its enlarged sweet spot. Even the experienced players can use these irons to hit consistently straight shots. The distance is equivalent to the Burner 2.0 irons, but the feel and sound are totally different, which makes this club much better. The irons cut thru the rough much easier than the other TaylorMade irons. This is perhaps because of the thinner face and weight distribution.

The Bad

One big disadvantage for these irons are their cost. At an MSRP of $999 for steel shafts and a further $100 for graphite shafts, many players will be turned off by the cost. Because of its bigger sweet spot, some of the more highly experienced players like to believe that this isn't the club they'd wish to spend so much money on due to its constraints when working the ball.

Bottom Line

If you've got the money, these are an improvement over any of the other irons TaylorMade has on the market, beside the RocketBallz irons. These irons will help beginning players transition to average players and average players transition to a lower-handicap player. Experienced players that like straight shots will also like these irons.
