Placing Gaming & Adventure Racing Hand-In-Hand

By Rob Sutter

When you're talking about adventure racing in general, you're talking about one of the most physically demanding activities in the world. This is the one which has people putting forth some of their greatest efforts, perhaps even working harder than they ever have before. This is something to consider but is it possible for gaming to be seen alongside it? Judging from what I have seen, I would like to think that these two subjects can find their way so that they can work alongside each other.

Sonic the Hedgehog has always come across to me as a character that has cared for very little apart from the element of speed. That was, however, until a couple of years ago when the games he has starred in have taken different approaches. Instead of quickness being the most important aspect, there has been more of an emphasis on exploration, considering the many worlds worth exploring. This, more than anything else, has become such a crucial element and it has become one worth noting.

It seems like the "Assassin's Creed" series has always been about exploration, whether gamers have realized it or not. From Venice to Rome, it seems like the main character has always found himself moving about, therefore seeing a number of locations and taking in all of the surroundings. Since this series is not nearly as breakneck fast, it's easier to appreciate all of the finer details which are seen. Does this necessarily mean that the game is low on action and, therefore, not quite as worth playing?

There are many series worth talking about in terms of action but this particular name has made me a fan from the start. Not only does it entail a great amount of adventure racing but it is clear that combat has become much more of a focus than ever before. These games have proven themselves to be quite varied and very few will be able to disagree with such a sentiment. The action does not seem to end, which is something that can be connected to the events the likes of Spartan Race, too.

I believe that adventure racing is one of the greatest events to consider and it's hard for me to deny such a point. Obstacles are going to be seen in multiples and it is going to take various levels of work in order to traverse through each of them. Will you be able to do the same, though? I think that it's up to you to go about the best work possible and what has struck me about this type of racing is gaming, surprisingly, has many aspects which can be connected.
