A long putt requires you to focus on the speed at which you will be hitting the ball. Don't aim directly for the hole. Instead, carefully read your putt, then aim directly at a target between you and the hole. This will give you the best chance of success for your putt.

When holding your club, utilize a neutral grip. Don't squeeze the club too tightly; this makes your shots go further right than you want. Conversely, if you hold your club too loosely, the ball will go off to the left. Use the direction of your shots to correct your grip.

To maximize swing strength, you need to involve your whole body, from your torso all the way down to your legs. Simulate the cracking of a whip while you swing your torso around and push your feet firmly against the ground. The energy for the arched swing begins in the feet and is transferred up through the legs and into your trunk and arms.

Your feet must be lined up in the correct way. Proper foot placement can help you greatly improve your swing. Put your feet at a 90 degree angle to the line along which you intend the ball to fly. To make sure you are doing this, place your club so that it is touching your toes; you want the end of your club to face the way the ball will go.

To maximize your shot, you always want to ensure that prior to swinging, your hold on the club is correct. The handle must rest on top of your palms while your thumbs are pointing down. Make sure both of your hands are touching each other. Choke up on your club when you want the ball to go farther.

Before you begin your swing, be sure to hold the golf club in the correct way. Your thumbs will be pointing downwards, and the handle will fit right in your palms. Your hands should touch. For a longer drive, hold the handle a but higher up.
