Leatherman Sideclip

By Maggie Smith

While there are many multi-use cool tool gadgets out in the world there is only one true practical tool around. That would be the Leatherman Sideclip. This tool is really twelve tools in one. While it only measures 4 inches long when closed and weighs in at a mere 5 ounces is has some very impressive features.

The first feature to strike one is in view that there will be no necessity of a covering or carrying case. As the name implies there really is a spring clip on the side that lets the tool to be clipped up to just about anything for storage or travelling.

It might be a belt, shirt or pants pocket, car visor, tool box or perhaps a clip board. It can be placed anywhere that will make it easy to reach for and use.

One of the stand out features is the 2.3 inch knife cutter. This blade is very sharp and holds its edge very well even with all the most trying of circumstances. The blade is made from 420HC stainless steel for many years use. The design of the blade is otherwise known as clip point.

This tool has eleven more tool features besides the knife. There is an 8 inch ruler, which includes markings for measuring up to 20 centimeters. A bottle opener and a can opener. Hard wire cutter and needle nose pliers combination. Large, medium and small flat blade screw drivers. Phillips blade screw driver and regular pliers with attached wire cutter.

Some of the important but often overlooked features of this product include the stainless steel handle and stainless steel body and the 25 year Warranty. Additional features are the optional leather or nylon sheath and the addition of a lanyard hole.

This tool is truly multi functional and should be considered a part of anyone's essential field equipment. For the construction worker it is almost mandatory. When working on a project the sudden realization that you require a knife, or screw driver or even pliers may cause you to stop what you are doing and go in search of that tool. With the Leatherman Sideclip on your belt just reach down, open it up and keep working.

Not convinced yet? Then let's look at just three specific reasons why you might want to make this part of your everyday accessory items. One ? with the knife you can be ready to open the package that was just delivered to you. No need to search for a box cutter or some other sharp object to cut the tape. Also you no longer need to use your car keys and get them all gummed up with tape residue. Two ? you just discovered that the screw on your camera tri-pod is loose and it will not hold steady.

Your alternatives could be to suspend taking pictures for the day or walk back into the auto and hope you can find a Phillips screw driver inside the trunk or whip out your Leatherman Sideclip and tighten down the pesky unfastened screw. Three ? you are in the middle of nowhere and now you have a short in a wire to the car battery so now the car would never start. The only option to eliminate this problem will be to cut out the shorted component and splice the wire with each other. Were you able to carry your tool box out of the garage? No, but you do keep your dependable Sideclip with the wire cutter and pliers. Cut the short out, take out the cuts of the wiring and link them with each other. Now you are back on track.
