Celebrate Sprinting In The Annual Color Run

By Florinda T. Hopson

People get involved in The Color Run each year as they are looking for something other than a normal race. With more than 25 different racing places, people from all over can participate in the race throughout the year. Along with the fun and enjoyment of taking part in the race, a charity from the local area will be benefitting from the race. Participants can either run in the race or volunteer to be a part of the crew. No matter how an individual chooses to take part in the event, they are sure to have a colorful day.

On the day of the race, people will show up wearing their white shirts and bright smiles. The runners may run as fast as they can as they take off from the starting line. In each section, racers are going to have colors thrown on them, and they shouldn't expect to make it to the end of the race with white shirts. Purple, blue, green, pink, and yellow colored corn starch will be thrown at all of the racers to brighten up their boring white shirts. It is suggested that racers wear sunglasses to block out the sun and protect their eyes from flying colors.

People can take part in the Color Run as a volunteer if they don't want to race or will be unable to. The color has to get on all of the racers, after all. Volunteers get the honor of tossing colored corn starch at all of the racers that pass them by. Not only is it enjoyable, but it is a great way to get rid of the aggravation of not being able to race. Volunteers are not paid for their time, but they will get to have fun and receive a special t-shirt for being a part of the crew. A local charity will get a part of the proceeds from the racer registration for the event.

Once racers have completed the 5K run and crossed the finish line, they will continue to bombard each other with colored corn starch in celebration. People can make an entire day out of the event since food and music will be available once the race is over. You don't have to participate in the race or volunteer to attend the celebration. The event is available for everyone to attend.

A person's day will be a lot brighter and happier when they participate in The Color Run. There is bound to be one near you since there are more than 25 different cities in the US participating throughout the year. You will be able to enjoy some great food and music, and spend the remainder of the day with your friends and fellow racers after being covered in colored corn starch from head to toe.
