Perfect Facts About Continuation Betting Identified

By Shakia Vaz

Texas Hold'Em is a popular poker game that is played by many people. One of the key plays in poker is bluffing the other players to believe they do not have a hand that can win the pot. A top bluff bet is known as continuation betting. Someone that is new to the concept will need to have continuation betting explained before they can use that style.

A continuation bet is known also as a C-bet. In an attempt to gain control of the table an individual would raise before the dealing of the flop. Doing that will signal to the other players that they may be facing a strong hand, some of them may fold at this time. Others that remain in the game will also be playing with caution based on the early heavy bets.

If a player does not a pair prior to the flop then there is a good chance they will not get it after it is dealt. To continuation bet a player would bet aggressively after the flop is dealt to affirm the earlier raise. At this point it is a good chance that players that have a weak hand may fold.

To properly C-bet an individual will need to see what cards are coming out during the flop. Someone doing a C-bet would want to get non-sequential cards that are not the same suit. That way there will not be players staying in the game hoping for a straight or flush may come their way with the other cards.

Another problem that can come about in a C-bet is if too many players hang around to see the flop. When more than two other players stay in to see the flop there is good chance that one of them has a decent hand. At that point it will pay to understand the normal playing habits of the others at the table.

C-bets are not something that should be done at each hand. When a player uses it too often then others at the table will pick that up and will call the bluff to see their cards. Do not fall into patterns of using this or any other bluff.

Having continuation betting explained to a player can help their poker game out. One of the key points to remember is that any poker bluff should not be used in excess or others will start to call to see a player's cards. Being aggressive early is what makes this philosophy work.
