Three Suggestions to Play a Better Golf Game

By Andrew Hoffmann

Golf is a relatively complex game and playing properly involves getting various factors right. However, this doesn't mean that you can't become a great golf player, even if you are just starting out. As long as you understand that it will involve plenty of practice and that you shouldn't expect to learn everything all at one time, nothing should stop you from turning into a great player. Continue to read for information that can help you with your golf game.

The first step to improving your golf game is to make sure you have the right equipment. This doesn't mean, though, that you need the most expensive equipment. To be quite honest, if you are new to the game, you should get the least expensive clubs you can find. These can be purchased from somewhere like a garage sale until you are sure about which golf clubs fit the way that you play. For example, if you need lighter clubs that are easier to swing, you should buy clubs that have graphite shafts. But you need to know that the least expensive are steel shaft clubs. The only way to pick out the right set of clubs is to test them out, even if it means borrowing your friends club while golfing. Once you have found the ideal set of clubs, you can invest in a set of professionally fitted clubs, if your budget allows.

Balance is the most important element of a good swing. If you're having trouble staying on your feet you're going to have a hard time hitting the ball. You'll be able to hit the ball every time though if you are able to learn how to pivot around a single point. This single point is usually considered to be located 3 inches below the point where your collarbones meet at the base of your neck. This is the place or point that is fixed and the rest of your body should pivot around it. If you're balance is not that good, then consider a golf-specific exercise routine to improve it. You should also incorporate exercises aimed at improving your strength and flexibility as well, which will help improve the distance of your shot as well as your swing.

A good grip is essential to a good golf game. If you don't master it properly in the beginning, you will have a tough time changing it later on. You might not even notice that you have an improper grip. You will become frustrated when your game does not appear to improve, even when you practice a lot. Always keep in mind that you should never put too much of a grip on the club. In fact, you should only grip your club lightly.

One of the most popular grips, used by more than 90% of players, is known as the Vardon grip. With this grip, your pinkie should lie on top of the left index finger. You will find that a good grip can make a big difference to your game. So as you can tell, changing into a good golf player is just as important as playing the game itself. However, it does not matter what is said, anybody can do well at the game of golf if they practice and work hard.
