Texas Hold Em Tips - How To Get The Most Out Of Small Pocket Pairs

By Alex Bannon

There is a special ways to play small pocket pairs to get massive amounts of cash. These Texas Hold Em tips will reveal them. Read this article now to discover how.

There is one single best way to get the most out of playing small pocket pairs. What you need to do is leverage the one real strength they have, which is the surprise factor.

Texas Hold Em Tips - Small Pocket Pair Strength

Unless the table is short handed (I'm only going to talk about playing small pocket pairs on a full table from now on) the real strength of a small pocket pair lies in its ability to match the flop to make a set.

The third card you need to make the set will drop on the flop about 1 in 8 times. So about 12% of the time you'll get your set.

This is very important, because it forms the basis of how you must play small pocket pairs to be profitable.

Texas Hold Em Tips - Pre Flop Tactics

First, I find it's best to play any small pocket pairs anytime you get them. This starts pushing through the odds. It's so frustrating to fold pocket deuces and have the board drop a deuce.

However you'll need to be careful to not be paying too much to see the flop. You'll need to win about 8 times your pre-flop bet or more in the pot you do take in order to come out profitable overall.

Texas Hold Em Tips - Post Flop Strategy

When you don't hit the flop you will muck your hand. This way you can keep whatever table image you have (presumably tight).

When you do hit the flop you should maintain a similar betting style to how you would play with a top pair. For me I'd just keep a general aggressive play style without much variance, kind of like I've got something but nothing amazing.

You're emergency radar will show up if the board looks like is providing for a straight, a flush, or if the board pairs with a higher card than your pocket pair. The last thing you want is to have you full house duped by a slightly better full house.
