5 Facts About Golf That You Should Know

By Harry Barber

Is your handicap still decreasing the same way? Do you consistently fall short on your drives or feel exhausted at the end of 18 holes? Do you walk to your next hole completely disappointed about your lost putt? If you are familiar with the above points, then maybe it is time you think about changing your game. The following areas - flexibility, strength, endurance, nutrition and mental resilience - are very important, and the following tips will help you improve in each.

Flexibility

Have you ever experienced walking up to your tee and feeling stiff when you try to swing? You can surely try some warm-up exercises, but you might also need a more proactive approach. Therefore, it is essential to stretch on a regular basis. This will help you grow and retain flexibility. Just a few minutes spent stretching are a small investment to have a good game.

How strong are you?

Have you incorporated strength training into your exercise routine? It is very tempting to hit the ball as hard as it is humanly possible. There are several adverse side effects of doing this. Your muscles may not be physically prepared for the intense strain and you may become injured. Working on increasing your level of strength will prepare the muscles and prevent injury.

Endurance

Do you ever experience a low in energy or feel tired after you've only played a few holes? If this is a problem you find yourself dealing with, you might have to work on endurance. At first glance, golf may not appear to be a game in which aerobic fitness is necessary. But, if you walk the whole way along the 18 holes, you might end up walking for over five miles. Adding 20-45 minutes of cardio exercise to your routines, 3-5 times a week, will help you improve your endurance.

What do you eat?

Your body needs the proper fuel to work efficiently. Common sense dictates that loading up on junk food is a bad idea. So, what type of foods should you feed your body? You should definitely make sure you have a healthy intake of carbohydrates, lean protein, fruits, vegetables, and water.

Can you let go?

Are you still thinking of the mistake you made on the first hole, and did you take the negative vibes with you to the next hole? Negative thought patterns will not help your game. How you perceive the situation affects each shot. One way to increase your mental toughness is not to relive missed shots. Focus instead on getting a good shot now.

If you make the effort to follow these five tips, your game will be definitely improved. It is not always easy to put theory into practice, but with a little effort, your game will shine before you know it.
