Choosing the Right Shoes: Shoes Can Influence How Your Back Feels

By Greg Z Ownby

Canvas is constructed with a coarse cloth material. Often made of hemp, a canvas is used in various items like sails, tents, boards and shoes. Canvas footwear is nothing but a casual shoe or sneaker that is made out of a canvas upper and rubber sole. The shoes that are made out of canvas are often available for sale in two forms namely high top and low top. Another great advantage of canvas shoes are that these are available in a variety of colors.

The canvas shoes for kids have cute designs embedded on the top. The only set back of the canvas footwear is that these lack shock absorption, support and cushion. So, you cannot use these type of shoes for rough use. If you are looking to buy a shoe to do some kind of sports activity like aerobics, then you got to buy a nice pair of sneakers. However, you can continue to use your canvas shoes in a backyard or a beach. Although the canvas shoes are versatile, casual and trendy, these are available for sale at reasonable prices. You can buy a good pair of canvas shoes for anywhere between twenty and thirty dollars.

The main advantage of canvas shoe is you do not need to maintain them so well. In other words taking care of them is a snap. First of all it is a good idea to protect your canvas shoes before wearing them (or even better, upon first purchasing them) by applying a cloth care spray or starch to them. If you have sensitive skin it is wise to wear vinyl or rubber gloves when you spray your shoes and then give your hands a good washing afterwards.

It is not advisable to wear canvas shoes during cold weather conditions. However, if you wear it during winter, you are more likely to encounter thin white wavy lines on the upper part of the sole. You may even sense more number of white lines around the soles of the shoe. These white lines are often called as salt stains and if these are not removed immediately, it may cause your shoes to crack as the stitching on the shoes may loosen and crack away. One of the best ways to treat salt stains is to wash the shoes with suede and fabric shampoo and dry the shoes in the air. Don't tend to dry your shoes artificially by showing it under direct heat. Doing so, would destroy the shoe material.

Canvas shoes often lose their shape but it totally depends on the way we wear and walk using the shoes. Many individuals intend to put more weight on one side of the shoes than the other side, which may cause soles and heels of the shoes to wear out. Also, the upper part of the shoe can be stretched if it is not used the right way. In order to get rid of the shape problems, you got to place the shoe in a shoetree. Shoetrees can be shopped at shoe stores or other department stores. As an alternative, you can also pack the toe part of your shoes with newspaper and keep it aside in order to recover its original shape. Also, don't miss to replace your shoe laces in frequent intervals.

Remember, always tie up your laces and don?t buy ones that are either too long (dangerous and sloppy looking, not to mention they get dirty so easily) or too short (they will draw the shoe together unnaturally to compensate for their lack of length).
