Allowing Your Child To Learn The Concept Of Balancing And Coordination

By Janna Manning

When children are small, they are born without any knowledge or skills, and is up to the parents to be able to teach him/her different skills so that they can fit perfectly in the society. One such skill is the art of riding a bicycle and balancing.

You can teach your child to cycle by the use of a balance bike. These bikes are different from regular bikes since they do not give the child the opportunity to learn how to pedal because they do not have pedals unlike regular bicycles. Many people would prefer to train their children how to ride a bicycle by starting with the training wheels, but this is not good.

When you decide to use a regular bikes that has training wheels, it will only enable your child to learn the art of steering but not to balance or body coordination.

By the use the balance bike, you can be able to provide an opportunity for the child to learn body coordination perfectly and the issue of balance will no longer be a problem, and in a matter of time if you introduce the regular bike, the child will learn how to pedal.

It has been seen that most children the first time they see the balance bike, they usually want to learn themselves how to use it. So they will sit on the bike as if it is a horse and wait for it to move, if it does not move, they will try to push it and even walk with it slowly so that it can move.

They are the best bikes to teach your child to learn the art of hand-eye coordination and how to be able to balance, he will learn this by pushing the bike first, then run with it and in a matter of time he will be gliding with it.

This may take several hours depending on the eagerness of the child i.e. how much he would love to learn how to use the bicycle.

After you notice that your child has learnt both hand-eye coordination and balance you can now introduce him to the process of pedaling which I'm sure he will learn after a very short time.
