Playing NFL Weekly Pick Em

By Juliette Cruz

Perhaps when most people think of fantasy football games, they imagine the original type of game, where participants coach their own virtual teams. This type of game is still widely prevalent. But there are other options out there today that are equally as fun. One such option is the NFL weekly pick em challenge.

Not only is this a fun game, it is easier to handle. All you need to do is log in and, as the name says "pick em." That is, try to successfully pick who will win every game each week. This is done every week of the season.

Sounds easy for sure. But it is not. Upsets are never uncommon. And of course, there are always the really good games in which two top notch teams battle it out. There may be a slight favorite, with only home field advantage working for them.

This kind of virtual offering is ideal for anyone who really does not have the time to spend each week logging in and making all the necessary changes to their traditional teams. Players in those contests need to constantly be checking the waiver wire, moving injured players to the IR and making, accepting and/or declining trades with opponents.

Pick em games are also good for people who are not as up-to-date on their football player knowledge. While a lot of fans can tell you the complete lineups of every single team in the NFL, other fans only have basic knowledge of who plays where and how good teams are overall. For them, predicting game winners is a more manageable task.

Such online challenges are getting increasingly popular. Most well known sports websites now offer some version of the game. And they are usually for free. Prizes are enticing and make playing definitely worth it. Winners may receive gift cards, electronics, automobiles or even cash. A simple web search will provide a comprehensive list of the sites that offer this type or game.

As stated earlier, playing is not as simple as it may seem. Doing just a little research may help play a role in how well you do. For instance, checking into some weather forecasts could help you decide on certain selections. Or it may help to know which teams regularly practice on artificial turf.

And of course, knowing if the starting quarterback is out for a couple of weeks might make all the difference when you are about to choose his team. Some teams do better at night, on Mondays, or in November. Taking all things into account may give you that slight advantage that is needed to make that unexpected pick and eke out the top spot.

Taking part in NFL weekly pick em contests is fun. And the thought of winning some neat prize makes it even more interesting. It makes that much anticipated Sunday even more enjoyable when we follow along with the score updates.
