Atlanta's Outdoor Sports and Activities

Atlanta is an excellent place for outside sports, as is the Georgia area. A gigantic growth of outside sports in Atlanta awaits the daredevil.

Atlanta Marathon and Marathon Relay

Held on the week in October, you can make preparations for this long race by running in Piedmont Park. Each year, warm up races are held by the local running clubs. If you are not up to marathon level, the race always wants volunteers. A person should always take the time to train and prepare properly for a marathon, so that they can avoid any permanent injuries by overstraining their bodies.

Travel the Chattahoochee

Shoot the Hooch provides everything that you need to investigate the Chattahoochee Stream. Whether you'd like to raft, canoe, canoe or tub down the waterfall, this company can set you up. Ice Skating at the Ritz

The Ritz-Carlton Lodge at Reynolds Plantation opens a 6000 square foot skating rink from Thanksgiving through February. This rink is totally free to guests at the hotel, but is open to all for skating. The Lodge is set in lovely environment on Lake Oconee at One Lake Oconee Trail.

Walking Paths and Trails

Some preferred trails are the 3 mile Chastain Park trail, the nineteen mile Stone Mountain Trail, and the 95.5 Silver Comet trail. Taking the Arabia Mountain trail will help you to find waterfalls, wildflowers and farms. The Trail Foundation which has developed main trails in and round the Atlanta area. Trail users can walk or bike thru a lot of these areas. Some trails out in the country are made for both off-road bike riders or horses. Trail also supplies the best biking trails in Atlanta.

Atlanta's Botanical Gardens

The garden is thirty acres of fantastic attractions and buildings.Each section of the Earth is represented across the gardens by its local plants and culture. Bring walking shoes and get ready to spend the day getting lost among nature. Atlanta is home to several well known golfing courses. Some of the best are the East Lake Golf Club, Sugar Stream Golfing Club and the Bobby Jones Golfing Course. The East Lake Golf Course is the home to the Tour Championship. The best of the best in professional golf have played here.

Atlanta Rocks

Climb a mountain through many trails and see the way that the squaddies in the Civil War fought for and protected Atlanta. Except for the hike through lovely country, there's a visitor center which may help you trace out the trails taken by the troops. Trails here also offer some great trail biking in Atlanta. If its raining on your day out, here's where to go. This is the most important rock climbing establishment in the South with 12 thousand sq. Feet of climbing surface. They can also put you in contact with paths to organize out of doors mountain climbs.
