It seems like city bicycle efforts have continually been brought up to the surface and I'm happy to see it. I believe that this activity is one of the finest when it comes to both exercise and travel, which means that it should be highlighted more often. It's one of the activities that I have enjoyed for many years as well. While I understand that there are actual benefits associated with this movement, I'd be lying if I said that I didn't have a personal connection to it.
While it may be somewhat embarrassing to say it now, training wheels were ones that I had used for much longer than other kids. During that time in my life, my friends seemed to catch onto the art of riding on two wheels rather easily. This wasn't the case for me, though, as I spent more time trying to learn about this than anything else. I knew that I wanted to get better and the fact that I enjoyed cycling in general only made me want it that much more.
It wasn't much longer, though, until I figured out the two wheel way of riding. It was here that I started to find myself wander around more often, seeing as how I didn't have much in the way of limitations bogging me down. I would sometimes go into the wooded area outside of my school since my house was relatively close. After I was able to get through the path a number of times, many scrapes and bruises later, I think that I became an efficient cyclist.
I think that the city bicycle efforts that are being done today are some of the best because of the attention given. Even though I find myself the target of a stolen ride, I find myself interested in the stories that companies such as Linus Bike have supported. I believe that there is a lot to be proud of when it comes to the improvements being taken by the cycling community. I am of the opinion that more people would travel to work on them if safer pathways were to be had.
Hopefully I will be able to reach a time where I can replace the bike that was stolen from me. I used to love being able to ride about whenever I wanted and I want to be able to capture that again. One of the reasons is because I find it to be the most effective form of exercise one can do on the most casual level imaginable. More importantly than that, to me, it's an activity has a personal connection and I don't think that it's one to be ignored.
