By Moglori Sparia

Golf buggies are small four wheeled vehicles that are designed specifically to carry people and equipment along narrow lanes. People use them to conveniently to get quickly around the course while playing a round of golf. When searching for a quality golf cart, the consumer needs to consider maneuverability, power and reliability.

The typical buggy is designed to carry one or two people and has room in the back for golf bags and other items. Sometimes people who live in planned or retirement communities will use these carts to get around the property.

Consumers can choose between carts that run on gasoline or electricity. Remembering to charge the battery will be important if an electric cart is purchased. There are some locations that have banned the use of gasoline carts because of the pollution and noise. Electric buggies are also usually slower than their gasoline counterparts.

A buggy requires the same kind of care and maintenance as any other kind of vehicle. The owner will have to arrange to change the oil and clean and inspect the engine on occasion. Tires should be kept inflated to the pressure recommended by the manufacturer. Most carts are equipped with quick release wheels that make it easy to replace the tires. Owners should make sure that the cart is covered by warranty in case major repairs need to be made.

Owners can prolong the life of their carts by keeping them protected from the elements. Find a shed that is large enough to drive the cart into or purchase a heavy duty cover that is waterproof.

There are plenty of accessories available that will allow anyone to customize their cart. A canopy can be added to shade the sun or keep any moisture out. Golf buggies can cost several thousand dollars depending on size and model. Those working with a limited budget should be able to find a good used machine for a lot less money.
