Tips For Buying Running Shoes

By Tom Doerr

The running shoes you wear have a huge impact upon how your body feels during and after your workouts, since they affect how your muscles react to each movement you make. If you need help selecting the right workout sneakers, these tips can help.

When you wear the right footwear, you may be able to exercise longer and decrease how sore you feel after you finish. The right pair of shoes will fit your feet well, provide you with the appropriate amount of support, and give your feet room to breathe, so they do not overheat.

Casual sneakers or flats should not be worn for jogging or strenuous workouts. This type of footwear will not have the support you need and they may not be able to absorb the shock that results from hitting the ground with your feet, which may increase your likelihood of having sore muscles and suffering from shin splints.

Before purchasing a pair of sneakers, find out which parts of your feet are under the most pressure when you walk or run. You can figure this out by looking at the soles of a pair of sneakers or flats that you wear very often. Look for the parts of the soles that are really worn out - these are the areas of your feet that are under the most pressure and need the most support.

It may be difficult to find sneakers that provide you with enough support. If this is the case, consider purchasing a pair of insoles for your athletic footwear.

Before you purchase a pair of running shoes, be sure to try them on and walk around in them. This will allow you to find the best fit and the most comfort.
