The Perfect Golf Swing: Can You Achieve It?

By Greg Edwards

Golf can drive you crazy as you find one day you are hot hitting down the fairway straight to the hole and the next not able to find the green with your ball. Yet with all this frustration everyone thinks if they can just find the perfect golf swing all their golfing problems will be over.

What makes a perfect golf swing? Many people will tell you the aspects that need to be fixed before you can find this flawless swinging style. Maybe you need to choke up on the neck of the club or keep your wrists straight, whatever the information there is plenty of it out there.

What constitutes the strong and perfect swing is the consistency with which a ball is hit. An example would be if you put down a certain number of balls and every time you hit each of the balls they went to the same spot on the green. That is what a perfect swing is, consistent.

However the perfect swing is really like the Holy Grail. See there is not just one swing that is perfect, there are many that are. Each person has the potential to have this type of swing. But how? It takes some work but it is achievable.

First you must get a chance to see your swing. Have someone video tape you or go to a golf club that has the capability of capturing your movements. Seeing yourself will give you volumes of information about bad habits or things you are doing that might be greatly affecting your game and you do not realize it.

Watching professional golfers, especially Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, or even the great Ben Hogan, will give you great insight. It is not that you want to adapt their swing but more that you can see their movements and even corrections that might also benefit yourself.

Then take a few lessons. See what feels right in the lessons. The thing is you know your body better than anyone. So if a pro tells you to stand one way and it does not feel right and you do not see the difference in your swing then trust your instincts. Because the idea of a perfect swing exists everybody thinks that someone has the answer for them.

Perfection does not come without some hard work and elbow grease. The key to improving is simple, practice, practice and then practice some more. As you find the things that need to be tweaked keep drilling the right way into your mind and your muscles. This will allow you to change the way you hit and be aware of when you hit your own perfect swing.

Trying too hard to develop the perfect golf swing of someone else can really screw up your game. Instead opt to find your perfect swing. Once you put the thought into trusting your body and getting the right insight you will see your game come around and a great golf game emerge.
