How To Run In The Rain

Have you ever tried running while it is raining? Wouldn't it be an awesome experience to be jogging while raining! Yes, running in rain can be so much fun! However, you will be surprised to find out that there are so many ways to gear up for wet weather runs. So, here are a few tips for running in your best ready-to-get-wet running apparel.

Dress Up in Layers of Clothing if its cold or raining, you might need to dress up in a couple of layers and the most important is the first layer. When running, make sure that you are going to wear a polypropylene or CoolMax. Why? This is because such type of garment has the ability to wick away perspiration and therefore, eliminate that feeling of stickiness and wetness. Otherwise, if you decide to use a running gear that does not wick away wetness, you should expect to shiver and feel cold while you run.

One piece of clothing you should purchase if your serious about running in all weather would be a water resistant jacket, I would also suggest in wearing a wind-breaker as the wind combined with rain can make running dangerous if your not prepared. Be careful of water-resistant rain slicker as they can often trap moisture and heat which can sometimes lead to health problems after many uses.

One of the cheapest pieces of equipment brought up in this article is the running hat, you can buy a hat from almost all clothing stalls for a small amount of money. If you're running when its raining a running hat will reduce the chance of injury as well as increasing the chance of your enjoying your run. The hat will protect water dripping all down your face from your hair into your eyes, mouth, nose, which makes it alot hard to concentrate or have fun.

I mentioned before to layer up before a run, however you need to be sensible when choosing what and how many layers you wear. One problem that runners get who wear to many layers is that the out clothing tends to soak in the rain water, making you heavier. This makes running harder as your not used to the extra weight with the added bonus of the soaked in rain which will make you cold. So the trick is to prepare the day before a run, have a look at the weather then prepare your clothing for the forecast.

The next piece of clothing I recommend getting for wet weather running is reflective striped clothing. This type of clothing is generally used at night, or on days of poor visibility due to heavy rain. Reflective strips increase the chance of other people who could be running, cycling or driving noticing you, which then decreases the chance of you having an accident.

Alot of runners actually love it when it starts to rain, its a change of scenery and a test of your determination. You need to focus more where your running and adapt to your surroundings. Before you know it your body will eventually heat up and as longs as your wearing the right running equipment you should be safe.

Keep Your Shoes In Shape After finishing from a wet run, immediately remove your shoes for running and fill them up with crumpled newspaper rolled into balls. Doing this will guarantee keeping your shoes in tip-top shape, not to mention drawing the moisture or wetness away from those wet and sloppy running shoes.
