Benefits Of Vibram Five Fingers

By Jean Morgan

There is a new and incredibly radically approach to shoe design. The vibram five fingers have come on the scene and display an inventive glove like design. This is unusual but not unwarranted.

The philosophy behind the vibram five finger shoes is that running barefoot is essentially better and more natural than the designed and constricted shoes many people use. People who use five fingers shoes like the natural movement it allows.

The great thing about vibram shoes is that they allow each toe to be individually free. Without constraint the foot is free to function, as it should. This gives you a better movement and agility.

Science backs up many of the claims that supports stand by. For instance, the human arch is a much more powerful and efficient than any artificial support. Proponents of the five finger shoes believe that a natural stride unhindered by an artificially designed shoe is the way to go.

The human foot is a marvel in design. It is perfectly proportioned and anything that alters the way in which it works is not to be desired. Normal shoes will place undue stress upon the body under the belief that reducing impact or adding cushioning is a desirable thing. It is not.

Unless you can find an area that is not going to have rocks, trash or other things that can harm your feet, you will want some amount of protection. The five finger shoes will provide adequate protection for your foot while not adding unnecessary things that hinder movement.

Much of what is lost when wearing typical shoes and sneakers is the balance and agility that is sacrificed in order to achieve cushion. However, it is questionable as to whether this cushion is actually necessary.

After using the vibrams many owners realize that while the cushion is less, the actually result is less stressful. Many will find that after a long run their body does not hurt or ache in the same way that it will when using traditional shoes.

There is also the added benefit of the flexibility allowed with the vibrams. Your feet are capable of maintaining more control over terrain than normal sneakers or shoes. This is why running with these shoes actually allows for more stability and control. You will be less likely to slip and fall.

The idea of barefoot running is not new. Many countries have athletes that practice running barefoot for races. These same runners would compete barefoot if the race allowed. They understand that the natural arch of the foot is superior to the artificial arch of a running shoe.

Anyone who is interested in increasing their agility, and overall running experience will be well advised to investigate a vibram shoe. Remember that with these shoes it is best to be precise with measurements. They are not traditional shoes and so you will want a precise fit.
