Advice For Preparing For An Evacuation

By Irmgard Pajak

Every survivalist guide will tell you that calamities and emergencies can occur to anyone no matter what race or gender. It doesn't matter if it's a terrorist attack, famine, an earthquake or a civil war, you must be ready to manage it by fighting back or evacuating. There is no time to think, much less rush to the store to purchase supplies, when a calamity happens. This means you must have everything you need for an emergency scenario now before it happens.

Mass Departure Tips

1. Create Your Preparedness Kit - Making your own survival kit is better than buying a prepared one. You won't be able to choose the brands if you acquire a ready-made kit. Some survival kits are sold in outlets and can be bought for a lower price than an assembled one. If you choose to purchase one, make sure all the supplies in it are high quality. Ensure that the bag is spacious enough for you to add your own things, for instance concealable knives for self defense.

A survival kit is an investment that you hope to never use, but you're safer with this bag around. It must contain food, a waterproof blanket or poncho, matches or lighter in water-resistant containers, flashlights and batteries.

2. Check Your Vehicle - Tuning your vehicle regularly is a preparedness strategy. Don't be stranded with a disabled vehicle when everyone else is busy loading supplies inside their cars. Have an emergency road and safety bag in your car so that you can fix a flat tire or call for help during an emergency.

Some of those pen flares are available in local retailers, so make sure you have one in your car at all times. These will come in handy if you get marooned somewhere. Shooting a flare up in the sky will alert search parties to your spot .

3. Self Defense - Some families make it a rule not to keep guns, but you need to have a weapon ready just in case you need to defend against bad elements. Petty crime rises up when there's a crisis situation. Thieves have a way of knowing when people are at their most susceptible.

Not everyone who hangs around the neighbourhood during an evacuation has clean motives. Secure your home and protect your family if these criminals assault you. You can make weapons at home, such as a homemade stun gun.

Only you can determine whether or not your family is crisis-ready, do not mind the people who tell you you're being overly paranoid. While every one of us hopes to live a relatively boring life, we must always be alert at the possibility that unpleasant accidents may occur at any time.
