Play Ping Pong For A Way To Enjoy Exercise

Ping pong, also known as table tennis, is a fun and relatively easy game to play. This is one reason most people play ping pong for fun, as opposed to professionally. There are cheap ping pong tables, which also makes the sport affordable. If you want to know how to play ping pong, here are a few simple rules and tips.

Usually there are two players, but if you have a group of people you can play doubles with four people. In this case there will be two players on each side of the table, and the volley will alternate between players on each of the two teams. It is easier to learn the game if you start with two players of equal skill. Once your skill level increases, then you can play more creatively with more aggressive volleys. You can practice anytime alone by using the paddle to hit the ball against a wall.

There are different ways of electing who serves first. Sometimes it is by a coin toss. To serve the player drops the ball on the table surface with one hand, lets it bounce once, then hits it to the other side of the table with the other hand. The players volley back and forth until one of them fails to return the volley. At this time the point goes to the other player.

When the ball hits your side of the table it is only allowed to bounce one time. If it bounces twice you lose the point, and there will be another serve to begin a new volley. As players acquire more skill they are able to hit tricky shots that are difficult to return. This is when it becomes competitive and more intense. When you are just beginning to learn, the main objective is to keep the volley going, not to beat your opponent.

When the ball is served or a volley is returned if it does not hit the other side of the table or if it hits the net, the point goes to the receiving player. The receiving player is allowed to hit the ball only one time when returning it to the other side. Failure to do so gives the point to the other player.

According to the official rules of the game, the volley continues until eleven points have been scored. The serve is alternated every two points. After eleven points the player with the most points wins the game. When playing for recreation, people will frequently go up to fifteen or twenty-one points.

The player who wins two out of three games wins the set. If a player is able to win two games in a row, there is no need for a third game to break the tie. People who are playing for the exercise and the fun just play until they don't feel like playing anymore.

Practice may not make perfect, but it does make for a better player. This is an activity where the entire family can have safe fun that is also good exercise.
