Take a Look at the Qualities and Returns Pertaining to the Coleman canopy

By Tomoko Collado

Modern canopies are actually taken from prehistoric designs. Take a look at some old history books and examine their shelters. You will probably find that their early shelters resemble our modern day versions in several ways. We may use high tech fabrics today, but in the past they used such things as leather goods and grasses.

Now granted, they probably would have had side curtains on these shelters, but we can provide those today also. A canopy is usually considered a "tent" without the side curtains all the way around. They come in many shapes and sizes, for many purposes.

Some people use canopies on their homes for protection against rain and sun in their back yards. These usually fold or roll out from the walls. There are many uses for canopies ranging from the hot dog vendor on the corner to seashore vendors at your local beach. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts have many uses for canopies when they are out camping in the woods and when they are having special competitive events in parks and else where. The simple canopy can be used for many other purposes also like graduations, outdoor weddings and picnics.

W.C. Coleman was out one day selling typewriters when he came to a store that had a gas lantern burning. This was new to Mr. Coleman, as he was use to seeing the more yellow, smokey light of a kerosine lantern. Mr. Coleman proceeded to develop his version of the gas lantern for the masses and his company has prospered every since. Sleeping bags, food coolers, tents, and canopies are just a few of the many products that Coleman now produces.

With all the "space age" materials available now, you no longer have to put up with the short life span of earlier versions of the canopy. You can pull the folded up canopy out of its storage bag and have it totally assembled in about three minutes. Ready to fight the elements of nature.

The mechanics of the canopies are quite easy to use. You simply pull the canopy out of the bag and stand it up on its legs. At this time it is compacted to about one square foot and has the fabric attached to the frame. It is a lot easier with four people to open it, with one at each corner, but one person can open it by just pulling one corner at a time out from the center. In just a few seconds you have all the legs out to their open position and are pushing the top up from the four corners to raise it up. They usually have convenient little buttons that pop out in preset holes on the legs to secure the proper positions.

The NFL (National Football League) has licensed the Coleman Company to produce a line of Canopies that have got your favorite team's logos and color presented on the fabric. These 10' x 10' canopies can have side curtains added to further show off your teams spirit and colors.
