What Networking And Golf Have In Common

Almost every day of every year, there is some type of business being conducted on the golf course. It is a game that requires strategy, patience, and focus. Additionally, it involves a certain amount of commitment from the players. Some people just play the front nine, while others play all eighteen holes. You may have never thought of the analogy, but networking and golf actually have a lot in common.

People seem to feel a special connection when they step onto a course. It is a sport that exudes respect and prestige. A golfer is often proud of the sport, and may frequently invite others to join him or her on the course. Networking is similar in the fact that a business professional is often very proud of his or her organization, and frequently invites others to join the course of success.

They are also quite similar in the way that they are designed to break large goals down into smaller, more achievable, goals. One hole on the course, for instance, is only 1/18th of the bigger picture. Business professionals often break monthly goals down into smaller weekly and daily goals.

Furthermore, there are plenty of times when a golfer may get frustrated with his game, much like a business professional may get frustrated with rejections; however, both parties realize the importance of remaining patient, and they manage to stay focused on the larger goal.

One particular area in which these two are similar is the fact that both require some type of investment of time and money. A golfer may invest in a special set of clubs, or even a membership to his or her favorite course. A business professional should consider making the same types of investments in the success of his or her business. Where a golfer may improve his or her game, a network marketer can improve the strength of his or her business.

One of the most notable similarities between the two is the sense of accomplishment that can be felt when a round of golf, or a day of networking, ends successfully. This can often result in a feeling of pride. Each individual has experienced a positive end result, and has justified the investments that have been made, by remaining committed until the end.

As unrelated as the two may seem, when you look at networking and golf from a different perspective, you can often see how they are actually quite similar. When someone invests time and money into something he or she is passionate about, and remains patient through the small goals, and focused on the big ones, it can often lead to great success.
