The Reality Of Outdoor Camping

By Carlie Flavell

A camping experience is not exactly a spa vacation in a mountain resort. So you'd better make sure you have all you need for a camping trip. Think of the essential things you need to live. What will you need so that you can drink fresh water day after day? How will your day be? When you're well on your way to the location, you can not return to retrieve the stuff you left behind. Being prepared is one of the best survival skills a hiker must develop. You will need to fend for yourself, conserve your food and even start your own fire.

If you're going camping, you would be using a tent that will be your house away from home all through the trip. A good tent is your investment. There are tents that may be multicolored, spacious and easy to set up. But what you really need to look for is longevity and waterproof quality. If you're wet because your tent is too flimsy, you have a higher chance of freezing to death. Prepare for tearing on your tent material or your garments. You should always bring a durable tarpaulin so that you have a temporary shelter no matter what happens.

Test your tent. If it's defective, you have time to exchange it for something that properly works, or restore the damages if you cannot bring the tent back.

Your materials for pitching the tent should be on hand right away in case you may have to pitch the tent in semi-darkness. Scenarios like this might make you wish you know how to improve your night vision.

Gadgets for Improvising

You can cut almost anything with a great jungle knife. You need flint and safety matches to build a fire and to be able to see your surroundings. There could well be booby traps in your campsite. Fire will also keep you warm and push back animals.
