Some Tips On Catfishing

By George Bowman

There are a very helpful tips in catfishing that a catfish enthusiast should learn more about. Here are a few tips on catfishing that would help you reel in that large cat.

FISH DURING THE DAY

One of the most successful means of catfishing is by fishing during the night and many catfish anglers use this technique to reel in their most wanted large cats.

If you fish during the day, you would be amazed if you get a huge catch. Some professional flathead guides would actually support the idea of fishing during the day. They say it will also leave you with a advantageous catch.

The most likely explanation would be that they move less during the day and stay in predictable locations which would make them more efficient to catch compared with catching active and very mobile fishes during the night. However, during the day, the catfish would have the tendency to ignore your baits if it's just a typical bait because at daytime, they wouldn't prefer baits that are easy for them to catch.

USING A FLOAT IS EFFECTIVE

The usefulness of floats or bobbers are oftentimes ignored by most anglers but they don't know that they are such handy and helpful tools for catfishing. This is one of the helpful tips on catfishing that some anglers fail to do.

The floats could be used to cast your catfish bait and carry it still against the water current. Just attach a float to the line and tie it with a sinker and you will then yield a tightly float. Suspend the bait a few inches away from the bottom of the water and you are all set to reel in that monster.

STAY QUIET

Trout fishermen can productively catch a troutfish even with all the splashing and lound radio noises but catfish anglers can never do so in catching their target catfishes in rivers or lakes.

The truth is, catfishes have a very advantageously developed organ of hearing. They can hear sounds 15 times better than the average trout. That is, a catfish can detect sounds of up to 13,000 cycles per second because of their highly developed organ for hearing.

So you don't really have to boast that you have caught a catfish even when you were moving noisily. You never know you could have doubled your catch had you been very quiet during your fishing.
