Your Golf Slice Gone Right

By Steven Freeport

When learning how to play golf, you need to know about correcting slices. Correcting a slice requires some time before you become that experienced golf player who always sends the ball flying straight to the target. There are many possible reasons you keep ending up veering to the far right. In the following paragraphs, I will cite all the helpful tips that could be beneficial for you.

As I have previously said there are numerous causes that could result in that dreary slice. One, quite common among golf players is the way you address. Many players use the square stance, placing the shoulders, hips and feet aimed to the target. However, moving your left foot too far ahead of the right foot can result in an open club face and a ball heading to the right. To serve as a guide, check to see if your left foot and hips is directly under your left shoulder. If this is not how your body is positioned, you will not be able to direct the ball to where you want it to go.

When learning how to play golf and choosing a golf club, you should always aim for a neutral grip. A player can confirm that he has a neutral grip if he sees two or three knuckles on his left hand. Otherwise, you are holding the club the wrong way. With this, your hands will turn into neutral position as you enter the strike zone. This too, will open the club face which leads to a golf slice. In readjusting your hands, only change the position of the hands until two or three knuckles are showing on the left hand. Once you have, practice sending a few ball across the range to check if this is much better. Something as simple as changing the way you are holding the club could be the solution to your slice problems. Try as hard as you can to find the correct grip because once you have found it, you just might be using it as a pro.

The tempo of the golf swing is very crucial. Do not get the power of your shots from using your arms. This is a common error among players. Then their hands initiate the downswing motion. Inevitably, this results in the open club face. Avoid suddenly swinging your club down from your top. Movements from the beginning up until the end need to be fluid and relaxed. Looking at your divot is also a helpful pointer. If you see it directed anywhere but towards the target then go back to checking your stance. Once you find the reason for those dreadful slice shots, it will be quite certain that you will be able to get the right shots in the future. Of course, you need to practice and master these basic strategies first. Then you are off to finding that new found joy in playing golf.

Follow the above tips and you will soon find your game improving to new levels.
