If You Have the Best Concealed Carry Gun, Then You Need a Tactical Flashlight

By Dustin Aaron

Here are two products that you should always carry as a concealed handgun owner. First I'll say that you should carry a good flashlight. The flashlight should be at least 150 lumens and have a battery life of at least 4 hours at max power. I picked up some at Home Depot ($7.99 for package of two including 6 AAA batteries). This flashlight had a seven hour battery life and a crowned edge (sometimes called a strike bezel), which allows it to double as in close personal protection if needed. I bought one to carry on my person, one for the car, one for the closet, one for the girlfriend's go bag, and one to keep in case one of the others breaks. At $7.99 for 2 plus batteries, it was a great buy.

If you are someone who always has to have the latest and greatest technology, then you can buy the one hundred and fifty-five dollar, five hundred lumen Fury flashlight made by Surefire Flashlights.

You are probably wondering why you even need to carry a flashlight on you. It could actually save your life one day. My brother got trapped in a parking garage during a power outage. There was zero visibility and no backup generator. He turned on his reliable eight dollar flashlight and fifteen other people followed him to safety. When they got to safety, everyone was surprised to learn that he wasn't a police officer.

Wearing a small tactical flashlight at night can warn a potential crook that you are not an easy target. Imagine focusing 200 bright lumens on a potential threat and telling him to leave you alone. It sounds crazy, but it may prevent you from getting mugged. Whenever I leave the house, I always carry my flashlight.

A lot of really smart people are also pocket knife people. I started clipping one inside my pants pocket and man does this thing come in handy. When I was 23 a friend of mine gave me a special pocket knife with my name engraved on it. The blade is 3 inches long and it is barely noticeable when I have it clipped inside my pocket. The other day I was at Wal-Mart and saw a pocket knife made by Winchester that was only $5...yes five dollars. It had a serrated edge so I bought it.

A pocket knife will always prove useful. Opening boxes, cutting wrapping, cutting cords, and the list continues. My mother thinks I'm insane because I keep imagining situations where my pocket knife or flashlight will save the day. It's true that most of these situations never come to pass. But I will be prepared if they do.
