Commuter Bike Regimens Don't Need Dedication

By Rob Sutter

When I'm in the midst of a bike ride, I have a couple of goals in mind: staying active the best I can and not exerting more than absolutely necessary. Yes, feeling the burn in my legs is a hallmark of bike riding but while I can't deny that fact about working out, should further dedication be taken into account? My biggest faux pas about this hobby is just how much money it could potentially cost someone who wants to casually ride. Perhaps a commuter bike system could help on this matter.

You will often see bike rental centers in parks and other areas in which biking are the norm. This is common when it comes to the commuter bike community and it's helpful for those who simply want to get active without putting forth any further commitment. This rental system is done so that people don't have to worry about breaking the bank since bicycles from stores can be quite costly. Companies such as Linus supply bicycles of varying types for prices but commuter biking has always been on its radar.

This sense of biking can prove to be lighter on the wallet, for sure, but what about the sense of camaraderie that is felt? Many people who reside in these urban areas will more than likely be able to feel the sense of brotherhood that comes with these bikes as well. How in tune are you going to feel with these people? It's easy to get into this trend and it's not just because of the unity, as much of a reason as that can be.

How about sightseeing? While one may make the argument that sightseeing can be done on foot, you can cover so much ground when mounted on a bicycle. I know I'm not the only one who's guilty of taking in the sights around him while he rides about. In fact, this is probably the most effective way to do since you're both getting an eyeful of the world around you and keeping yourself in shape. With the added benefit of tourism, maybe the idea isn't so bad after all.

It's been shown that commuter biking has both enjoyable and rewarding aspects to it, especially if people remain driven. Being able to move through park and city streets with ease is fun and all but with so many sights to take in, how can one deny such a hobby? More and more people seem to be taking it up, too, which only grants people a sense of brotherhood with it. There's some unity to be found and it can only add to the bevy of reasons to accept this trend into one's life.
